Find ways to bring down the cost of green hydrogen

Low-cost green hydrogen production not only requires the use of low-cost renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics and wind power, but also relies on electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment to control costs.

Proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis water hydrogen production project has achieved self-sufficiency in key materials and its performance index has international competitiveness. The anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolysis water hydrogen production project has mastered the whole industrial chain technology from material to system. In the first two areas, we have developed megawatt-level high-performance industrial hydrogen production equipment, reaching the international advanced level."

Taking high-efficiency alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment as an example, Jiageng Innovation Laboratory has developed low energy consumption, low cost and adaptable photovoltaics through the development and process improvement of key materials and core structure of the equipment./1000 standard alkaline electrolytic water hydrogen production equipment for unstable power sources such as wind power.

Aiming at this field, the continuous hydrogenation catalytic process developed by Zheng Nanfeng's team can use highly selective catalysts to convert hydrogen into high-value chemicals.

"Catalyst is known as the chemical 'chip'. How to obtain a good catalyst is very important in promoting the progress of the chemical industry." Liu Shengjie introduced that continuous hydrogenation catalytic technology is a process with high production efficiency, stable product quality, and constant and easy control of reaction conditions. It has the advantages of environmental protection, energy saving, and self-control. At present, the continuous hydrogenation catalytic process developed by the laboratory has reached the domestic leading level.

Improving the selectivity and continuity of catalytic reactions is a major strategy for the fine chemical industry to achieve zero emissions from the source, and it is also an important driving force for improving product competitiveness and promoting the upgrading of the fine chemical industry. The continuous hydrogenation catalytic technology is one of the most critical issues in this field, and it is also an important application export in the downstream of the hydrogen energy industry chain.

"Replacing the traditional process of high pollution and high energy consumption with a clean hydrogenation catalytic process can reduce the emission of industrial three wastes by 95% and realize the high-end intelligent development of the application industry. Through the original hydrogenation catalytic technology, it can also significantly improve the monomer purity of all kinds of new materials and reduce their production costs." Liu Shengjie said that now the technology has been successfully applied to the production of new materials such as aramid fiber and polyimide, one of the world's three major high-performance fibers, and is expected to be widely used in aerospace and other fields.

At present, Zheng Nanfeng team's continuous hydrogenation catalytic technology has been selected into the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's first batch of petrochemical and chemical industry to encourage the promotion and application of the technology product catalog, and has begun to achieve 10,000 tons of industrial production, bringing new output value for enterprises over.1 billion yuan.
